James “Jamie” Duncan O'Brien, a professional surfer hailing from Kahuku, Hawaii, is known for his dynamic surfing style and exceptional performance in the world of competitive surfing. Born on June 9, 1983, O'Brien spent his childhood at the Banzai Pipeline, one of the most notorious surf spots on Oahu's North Shore. Inspired by the surfers frequenting his father's beach, O'Brien ventured into the water at the age of six and has not looked back since.
During his illustrious career, O'Brien has bagged numerous prestigious titles including the Hansen's Pipeline Pro (2003), Billabong Pipeline Masters (2004), Fosters Expression Trestles (2004), Rip Curl Invitational (2009), and Volcom Pipeline Pro (2010). In 2001, despite battling a groin injury, O'Brien secured the fourth place in the Pipeline Masters, marking his arrival in the surfing scene.
Off the waves, O'Brien has proven his mettle in film, producing two surfing movies, 'Freakshow' and 'Freakside', and starring in the video series "Who is JOB". His exceptional performance won him Surfer Magazine's Boost Breakthrough Performer of the Year Award in 2005. In 2016, O'Brien showcased his bravery by assisting in the rescue of a drowning bodyboarder.
Currently, O'Brien runs the Jamie O'Brien Surf Experience, a North Shore surf school based in Turtle Bay Resort. For surfskating, O'Brien has been collaborating with SwellTech.
